You'd be better off installing an OBD1 computer in place of the OBD2 unit to start with.

You need to install the timing cover , tone ring and sensor from your old engine to make it work. Not sure on the other sensors but you may want to swap them too. The motor itself isnt any different, you're having a problem with the sensor compatability or lack thereof.

or you could just go with the OBD I pcm. From what I hear, that's the way to go if you plan on lots of mods.

Hmm, Can i get it tuned out of my 96 computer? See I have a 96 and here in tennessee they test it by the obd2 port, So I can just put my old cover and sensor on this motor? This is the only plug that isnt plugged up right now, The car runs and drives great just hard to start.

The knock sensors arent the same either? Hell my 96 harness pluged right into them and I dont have any codes for them, Where can I get the timing cover and the sensor since the block was junk so I scraped the block with the timing cover on it

nope the 96 knock sensors are diffrent for the OBD2, part number for 93-95 is 10456126 and 96-97 is 10456287. what did you do reuse and old style opti to? and the harness off that. the wire harness is diffrent on a 94 opti than a 96 with a vented one.

Yes I used the old opti that was on the 94 engine, I just used the 94 opti wire for the harness and put my 96 coil on it the 94 engine they are diffrent, So what will it do if I just leave the 94 knock sensors on there since my harness plugged into it?

Since you need to keep the OBD2 computer for emissions testing, then the solution is to get the CPS code programmed out.

You also need to use the OBD2 KS with the OBD2 computer.
