Re: Alternator relocation bracket???

If you want one that you keep your ac (or you use an ac delete pulley), talk to dreamer1q, he has a guy that makes them....actually, i think they sell them through the same place that sells Deblers smoothlocks.

Re: Alternator relocation bracket???

I think I already spoke to him. I looking for something to where I can put the alternator where the AC is now, and eliminate the ac all together.

Re: Alternator relocation bracket???

That is putting the alternator on the drivers side of the motor where the AIR pump was. I want to put it where the AC compressor is. I nthe pic they just put a pulley there.

Re: Alternator relocation bracket???

Do you still want your power steering? If not you can modify your own bracket and about $10-$15 in parts have your own, assuming you have the right tools to do the work.

Re: Alternator relocation bracket???

I don't understand why you want to move your alternator. The biggest benifit from relocation brackets is to remove the ENTIRE accessory bracket. This removes a ton of weight between the bracket, PS and AC. sjmmanufacturing sells these kits as well as Madman (sjm kit is nicer imho).

The only reason that I can come up with of why your relocating your alternator is so that you can run tall valve covers. I think for the money it will cost for any other type of relocation kit, and having no weight benifits only so that tall valve covers can be run, I think money would be better spent in purchasing modified tall valve covers and leaving everything else where it is.

If you look at it, you'll spend ~200.00 on a relocation kit that doesn't remove the extra weight but is a modified bracket, then you still have to purchase tall valve covers. Maybe i'm missing something.

Good luck however it works out for you.

Re: Alternator relocation bracket???

I don't want tall valve covers, what i want to do is remove the ac compressor and put alternator there. I want to keep the area where the air pump was cleaner. The aluminum bracket really doesn't wieght that much, but that doesn't matter to me. I really want to be able to take the valve covers off easy, and remove the ac

Re: Alternator relocation bracket???

Reason I relocated it was because I wanted to run tall valve covers and I think the alternator is a huge eyesore in my opinion.Open the hood and the thing jumps right out.It had to go for me.

Re: Alternator relocation bracket???

I can see your points. The bracket doesn't weigh much at all...~5 lbs w/all the bolts. Add that weight removing the AC and PS, that is alot of weight. If weight isn't of any concern as it may be...then this statemtent wouldn't apply to you, possibly to others though.

If your looking to clean up the engine bay, removing these parts are the BEST thing you can do and run a low alternator relocation bracket from the above mentioned company like SJM Mfg. You wouldn't believe how much room you have to EASILY change spark plug wires/plugs and get to anything else that you need. It really is the way to go. You want to talk about cleaning up the engine bay....this IS it.

Personally, if I was only looking to run tall valve covers, get properly clearanced ones. The amount of times the alternator needs removed is pretty small. it is a simple task by swinging the tensioner with a wratchet to relieve tension, remove the belt and take a few bolts off.

The alternator is an eyesore for certain. BUT you can polish it or at worst, purchased a chromed or polished casing which looks fantastic. It no longer is an eyesore but a showcase piece.

I'm not trying to make arguements here so don't get me wrong...just giving you viable alternatives that you may have not thought of.
