What is the stock rating on the alternator in a 1996 SS? The shop is telling me that it is 140. All I want to do is keep my car running in its current mode. Its running great, looks great, and still turns heads. Can the stock alternator be built to 160 or will that cause any headaches down the road? If you reply---I thank you.

 

that is the correct amp rating. Increasing the amps will not harm anything, I am running a 200 amp alt.
