alternator rebuild Kit
alternator rebuild Kit
anybody know anywhere that still sells alternator rebuild kits for a stock delco LT1 Alternator.
Mine is squeaking, but it works fine and I don't feel like forking out the cash for a new one.

if you look in the yellow pages you should be able to find an alternator shop that will rebuild it for about half the price of a new one or less. I had my taken apart and took the two halves to be powder coaterd and then completely rebuilt and still had much less than a new one would cost.
I'd prefer to do it myself to save additional money. I'm a little confused about the alternator I have though. there is no model number on it. only says delco.
It's appears to be a delco cs144 des this sound right for a 94?

Should be a CS144 on a 94.. 140 amp..
It should have a plastic metal fan, and a stud with nut for the large red wire on the back.. that's the 140 amp [124 has bolt for red wire and a metal fan..]
Also, I don't think a rebuild kit is available for the CS 144
They are rather durable tho.. you could disassemble it and change the bearing[front] that is probably bad, if it's squeeling..
Clean and inspect the rest [brushes, etc] and it should be OK..
I pulled one aPART AT 140K miles and it was in very good shape..
Didn't need bearing or brushes.. just cleaned it, and put it back together..
