alternator pulley
hi everybody my alternator is making a squeling noise i already changed the belt and tentioner pulley,when i spun the alternator pulley when the belt was off it wasnt spinning freely,it was making a sqeeling noise, but if i keep driving the car with the alternator like that will the bearing lock and then the belt will break. i was thinking to change the alternator. thank u everybody

Bellieve me, the alternator failing is a much bigger deal than the belt breaking. You have two choices, rebuild the one you have or replace it. Neither is a big deal.....you can even take your alternator to a automotive electrics shop to get it rebuilt...new bearings, new diodes, new alternator, fully tested and cleaned.

I'll take a guess here....you're concerned that the bearings will fail in the alternator, seize and break the accessory drive belt..right?
Bellieve me, the alternator failing is a much bigger deal than the belt breaking. You have two choices, rebuild the one you have or replace it. Neither is a big deal.....you can even take your alternator to a automotive electrics shop to get it rebuilt...new bearings, new diodes, new alternator, fully tested and cleaned.
