alternatives to LT4 ED timing set

What are some alternatives to the LT4 ED timing set? I'll be retaining my stock mechanical WP...

Thanks ahead of time!

I've read through that thread considering I posted in it myself. It didn't really include anything that I was looking for. A Cloyes chain was mentioned, but I'm looking for as many alternatives as I can find; which is why I started a post pertaining to such

Re: alternatives to LT4 ED timing set

as far as I know the only option besides the ED set is the cloyes which is virtually identical.. I think someone mention cloyes actually is the OEM for the GM sets. I don't know of any other aftermarket sets that have the pump drive gear face. What I really want to find though is a part number for the cloyes oversized crank gear that they say is better.. and the chain.

When I did my h/c I used a lunati chain and so far it works pretty good, I didn't want to spring for the LT4 due to the overprice

I don't want an elec. WP since I got a refurd stock replacement for $110 with a lifetime warranty. Installed it and now I dont have to worry about changing it out every couple years like Id have to do with an EWP.

Happen to have a p/n on that chain? What did you use to replace the gear sprocket?

No part number off hand but I didn't replace the sprocket cause it was in great shape.. get it thru jegs or summit though.

just a quick warning if you didnt aleady know.
the coyles requires that you remove a mechanical waterpump and use an electric one.

The summit EWP is rated at 10000 hours...if you drove for a total of 5 hours every day...which is very unlikely..you would hit 10000 hours after 5.5 years. That is pretty good if you ask me. Considering you will prolly drive it 2-3 hours daily and maybe 4-5 hours on the weekend...you are looking at around 7.7 years. Just thought you should know.

I will be going with the cloyes and the EWP when I do my cam swap.

Yeah I dont get what everyone is afraid of...I rarely see any posts on electric waterpump problems and if there is a post its usually because someone is bad at wiring or making sure connections are covered

Re: alternatives to LT4 ED timing set

no point in going with an EWP since i just replaced my stock one. plus the cloyes that captain is talking about is the double roller. im looking for something that has provisions for the WP shaft.
