Alternatives to Fel Pro 1074 Head Gaskets?

All,

I am pulling the engine and heads. I have used the 1074's but want to make sure there aren't other better quality ones I should try for this engine. All I do with it is road race.

Also, I would like to keep the gasket thickness (and my quench BTW) at the 0.039 that the 1074 provides me.

GM's 12551488 gaskets have a compressed thickness of 0.043" and are an excellent choice....

Nothing wrong with the felpros. I have had them hold many times on 500+hp n2o cars.
I finally had a set let go on my boosted motor. But 600hp and nearly 800ftlbs to the tire will do that. I was running arp head BOLTS and it looks like it blew because I was lifting the heads, not because the gasket wasn't up to the job.

I ran the 1074's on my turbo build with no problems at all, you should be fine with them.

Except that he said the .039 Felpros give him .039 quench meaning zero decked. .026 quench would be risky at best.

With a zero deck the Felpros are a good choice.
