Some people just should not work on their cars. You cant even install headers and now you want to put heads on. Dont try to weld them on or anything. This is a sad post.

Im blown away! A hammer for spark plugs, I cant think of a worse tool to use maybe a Jack Hammer. All you needed was 5/8 socket for plugs. Why would you cut the Y pipe when you could have unbolted the four bolts holding it.

thanks for all the help. i couldnt get the ypipe unbolted at the driverside cat becuase i couldnt reach the bolts and i didnt have the right size deep socket. im going to take it to my friends dad who is a mechanic and have him look at the spark plug hole and he will remove the head and fix them if necessary. the reason why i couldnt take the spark plugs out was becuase i had already unbolted the manifold and it was sitting on them. and it was stuck somehow so it wouldnt go up either.

With a 90 degree drill, you can get the rest of the plug out.

FYI, Long tube header install is straight forward. including removing manifolds. when it became difficult, you should know you were doing something wrong. we knocked out my GFs long tube install in a couple hours.

i think that the threads inside the head may be messed up, because as we hammered it, it started to pull out sideways and then shattered. how can i repair the threads inside the head?

AARRRRRRRRGGGHHHHH!

I just read this post and laughed harder than I have laughed in long time! Like, rolling on the floor laughing!!

Honestly, who uses a F'ing HAMMER to get plugs out?!

That is some funny she-it.

dude-
when guys say they can fix everything with duct tape and a hammer its a joke

We need wrenches too

while your at it, just do a cam swap too.

3/4 of the water pump is off, the intake is off, the heads are off- throw in a good cam and a head job. might as well...

just one question-
what were you thinking? did it not occur to you that after you broke the spark plugs you would have to remove them

Or beat the rest of the engine out and get a new built up one.

I would definitely have a good mechanic look at the situation. It would be worth some time to try to fix the problem without pulling anything.

This reminds me of that old Pep Boys commercial with the little kids hammering the square block into the round hole.

Just keep hitting it. It'll go in/come off.

I'm confused as to how you tried to take out spark plugs wiht a hammer? Did you just bash them until they broke into small enough peices to fall out of the head?

i didnt try to remove them with a hammmer, a couple of them i couldnt get a wrench/socket on becuase the manifold was stuck on them, so i got a wrench and put the open end around the white part of the plug and used the BFH to break them off. it worked good 'cept for the one that pulled out somehow. anyways we finished the passenger side and i am taking it to my friends dads shop where he is going to pull the head and fix it and reinstall everything for 300.

$10 at any Sears and you could have had the right size of socket. This is great reading. I sympathize with you because I have been there. Although I have never once thought about hitting any part of the car (let alone the engine) with a hammer.
