Almost 100K what should i do
Hey guys, my 94 Z is almost at 100K miles, and i was thinking about trading it in for a newer (98+ LS1). But the only thing is that my car is almost paid off, and i really dont wanna be in debt, so would i be better of just rebuilding the motor? i was thinking about rebuilding it to a 355 or maybe if im lucky a 383 stroker. So im just curious as to what u guys think i should do? Also my tranny is probably gonna be going soon i have a feeling, and i am thinking about converting it to an M6. Would this worth all the money involved, or would it be better to just rebuild the trans, and maybe put a shift kit in it and possibly a Torque Converter? i was thinking a vig 3200. Alright guys thanks for all your help.

Are there signs of problems with the engine or are you unsatisified with it's performance? If you are happy and the engine is running fine there is no reasont o just rebuild it. The engine itself should last you many more miles if you do regular maintenance.
Tranny rebuild and stall would be fun. You're going to need those anyways if you do eventually rebuild the engine (assuming you don't build it stock and you put in a more radical cam).

If you don't want another car payment, then your decision should be pretty simple. If your motor is running ok and you aren't interested in increasing the performance, just rebuild the tranny and keep the car properly maintained.

If you are unhappy with the performance of the motor, I would go with a simple 355ci. As far as the tranny, if you want a little more fun, go with the M6 conversion. I did and I love it. The auto can get you some really nice numbers at the track if built right and good decisions are made in aftermarket peices.

agree with a simple 355... If you can find yourself a stock block I would buy it and slowly get all the parts together in the garage untill you're ready to have it assembled. In the GP section you can get a pretty nice 355 kit for about $900
Or if you have another car you can drive everyday, you could always use the block you have right now
