All TH350/400 Guys, Come In Please...

Ok, this will be short and sweet. I'm going to put TH350 in my '96 Z. How do I get it done? I know there is a adapter kit made for the '82-'92 F-bods, but none currently available for 4th gens. I don't have a problem with moving the crossmember and lengthening the d-shaft to accomadate, but I was pretty certain that the torque arm running parrallel to the d-shaft had to be retained. So that would still pose a problem. If anyone knows why the 3rd gen adapter won't work for 4th gens, that would be very nice to know as well.

Thanks, Jon

I just recently installed a TH350 in my 1995T/A and really like it. The only downfall is no Overdrive. The kit for 82-92 cars works on 4th gens b/c that is what I used. I bought that kit for the torquearm and a custom dipstick from Madman Racing for $180. There are other ways to do it which may be better b/c I don't have a speedo yet but I am working on it. There is another kit out there that reuses the stock 4l60e tailhousing and comes with an adapter and tailshaft so the speedo will work and the torque bolts up in the factory tailhousing and thats what I would look into. The driveshaft will not have to be shotened or lenghtened as long as you use a long tail Th350 or the kit I mentioned above. later Clint

Just installed a TH375 into mine. All you need for speedo is relucter ring & speed sensor from GM. Cost me $126.00. Then I used a 6 speed cross member. $27.00 GM. And had to order custom made drive shaft. I installed new 9"olso. I allready had an after market torque arm so every thing fit nicely .

i also used an aftermarket torque arm. i thought the hurst torque arm adaptor kit was cheesy and flimsy looking. i just modified my factory a4 member, used a madman dipstick, and a long tail 350 with my stock drive shaft. aftermarket torque arm is the way to go. hope this helps prorac1

Re: All TH350/400 Guys, Come In Please...

real quick..do you guys know of anyone using a hotcam with a th350? I wanna know what converter they are using and the specs on which size and stall. I'm not sure how long my 4l60e will last but if I do the cam, I'm ganna ride that puppy till it goes bye-bye. If it does blow at some point I was thinking of the th350 since its cheaper. It sucks but I have to keep my car smog legal if I wanna drive it so I'm choosing the hotcam. So back to my question..if you guys know of anyone with hotcam & th350..what converter should I be using? 10" 3000 stall? I'm thinking manual/auto valve body would be good instead of full. thanks in advance..
