maybe, but texas speed has a good reputation and does good work on ls1 heads it is not that hard to imagine similar quality towards lt1 heads. For that price they would be half the cost of LE3 heads. If they flow as well as claimed I make a motion for a gp

No core shift and a well built head with a TON of potential that could flow to 300cfm + give me the Edelbrock heads for a few bucks more.

The guy who made this post hasn't even been on the forum since early october, I doubt any of this would 280+ cfm stuff for 1500 dollars is gonna happen, and I doubt even more that that 280+ cfm claim would be true. Just keep your faith in LE and AI, they seem to be the only ones that have something going for us here in the LTx aftermarket...

extra thick castings small intake (180cc)
open up to 195cc + 2.02/1.6 valves you telling me they won't flow?
Alot of the factory castings have alot of variations, any head porter will tell you that.
If you start with a better casting to start with better things happen in the end. Especially if you pick them cheap enough and still come under an afr casting price that is not even ported yet.

I know I was talking about LS1 heads. Most guys would get the best bang for the buck out of a set of Dart 225's LS1 castings.... but they seem to think a bad CNC job on a GM casting is a better deal?

Either way after looking at the Dart LT heads the Pro 1 180cc port is better out of the box for a 350 and larger motor. If you have to go aftermarket LT casting those are going to be hard to beat.

I wish I knew they were coming out I would have checked them out at PRI. Any news on the release date or price?

Gotta agree with Bret, I think he's got a pretty good handle on the LT1world.

I am still clueless as to what this post is in reference to? The edelbrock castings (terminator heads) that they port for ls1's flow very well in fact I believe they beat the afr mongoose heads. They are also cheaper and use a smaller runner (200cc) than stock ls1 heads. They actually flow better than prc 227cc heads. No one is saying edelbrocks are the best castings to port but for the money they are hard to beat compared to AFR etc. I have been impressed with what texas-speed has done for ls1's. 285cfm heads for 900 including valves and .660 lift springs is a bargain as far as port work goes - assuming they flow well -and at all lifts. As far as spending more to get the edelbrocks? If they will flow 300cfm for that price they are beating everything else on the marked for the price. More choices the better. I would love to see what they could do with some dart heads. The more competition makes everyone get better which means our cars get faster for less money.

285cfm on a 243 casting is just a good valve job away.... plus your pushrod lengths will not be all over the place like most PRC stuff i've seen.

Smaller ports in LS1 heads is not the key to making more power, if so GM wouldn't have gone on the progression from LS1 to LS6 to L92/L76 to LS7 heads. Now huge 250cc cathedral port heads is not a good idea either.

Those Edelbrocks could do SO MUCH MORE it's crazy, they could easily be the best head to start from out there. Problem is having someone who can CNC them well, VJ them well and develop a master port for them isin't going to be cheap. GM got smart and paid Mike Chapman, your not going to sell heads with quality maching and that level of head development for $1000.... so you really do get what you paid for. Hell GM can't even do the LS7 machine work well enough out of the box, but with very little work they are the best OEM heads ever made.

Oh and as for the Dart heads.... well they pretty much already screwed them up and stoped trying to do that already.

Agreed. However, the original post is in relation to LT1 heads and not LS1 heads. I was comparing their LS1 work with what they could potentially produce on LT1 castings hence the small runner great flow comparison. But I was merely comparing flow not quality of the port jobs etc. In terms of LT1 cores you would have to pay at least 1500 for (i.e. tfs) cores + springs + portwork to get 290+. I personally like to keep the runners as small as possible without giving up too much for a stock cubed motor. I have seen 236cc heads that did not outflow those 200cc's big diff in throttle response and torque curve as well. I always like a porter who can keep the runners small while getting great flow numbers instead of one who hogs the **** out of the head to get his numbers. JMHO

Anyone that can bring a new product to the market for the ltx.. Thumb's up.. If your going to go big, i see no point in dabbling in the Ltx market.. Need to start looking at aftermarket offering's for the Gen 1's.. that's where the heads choice's are awesome.. For the 70% of the Ltx market, LE and AI have this Covered...
