Air tube only on one side?

I have to hook up my air pump for emissions but the headers I have were used and the EGR port was welded shut. So I ran the EGR tube to the passanger side air port. However the CO reading is too high so I have to hook up the air pump too. I still have the driver side port avaialbe but the passanger is taken up by the EGR. If I hook up the air pump to only the driver side, will that be effective or does it have to run to both manifods? My concern is that the O2 will see a lot more oxygen on the dirver side and I don't know if this will make the emission readings worst. As soon as it passes the emissions I'm disconnecting the air pump.

The air pump is only active for the first 2 minutes after start-up, used to help heat-up the cats quicker by providing air (with O2). The air pump is not going to solve your CO readings.
