AIR pump replacement

My car[93] sat for about a month while I installed cam & heads and a few other things. When I started it I got a code 26 [Quad Driver Module] I also found that the 20 amp fuse for the air pump blows right after I start the car. I replaced the fuse and unplugged the pump electrical connection. The fuse doesn't blow and no codes are set. Can I be reasonably sure that I have a bad pump or is there another test I should run?

Thanks.

If you plug the pump back in and it blows again, you can be pretty sure it's the pump. I have seen in illustrations that the pump on a 1993 is mounted on the LH frame rail and not on the engine. Is that the way yours is?

Yes, it's on the left frame rail. I found a diagram that shows how to jump the relay so I'm going to do that and see what happens.

Thanks.

I jumped the relay and the pump didn't run so I pulled the pump off of the car and took it apart. The electric motor was damp & rusty on the inside and also frozen. I cleaned the motor with electric parts cleaner, greased the bushing on the end cap and reassembled the motor using silicone on all of the seams. So far it's working. I was going to buy a new one but the best price I found was $120. shipped, and it's probably a waste of time to install a used one. If it quits again I'll have to spring for a new one ........... what a waste. Thanks Shoebox.

I see Air Pumps selling all the time in the For Sale section. I am sure I have seen a few for $50 and I believe there has been 1 or 2 for $25.
