Air pump part number
Air pump part number
Well I got the dreaded air pump code along with the blown 20amp pump fuse, so, I removed it and peeled it open. Out comes about 1/4 cup of water, a saturated foam noise dampener and some corrosion. After cleaning it up, I hooked it back up, while apart, and it ran fine without the fan blade attached. I know there is a recall on this, so don't go there. In case I need to replace it, does anyone have the part number or cost on it. The last time I took my car to the dealer, they went on a 50mile joyride and said it was for diagnostic purposes..yeah right.
TIA,
Doug

Don't spend that much on one. Go search the parts for sale area.
I even have one I could sell you for cheap (make me an offer). But don't throw money away on a part that many board members have sitting in a shed.

Update....
I cleaned out the water and a little sludge and it works fine. The motor is a sealed unit. I also replaced the rubber seal at the solenoid for good measure with a neoprene washer from the plumming dept at the local h/w store. I even drilled a small 1/32" hole for future water relief right above the lower mounting nut.
Some notes:
- the large plastic cover snaps straight on, w/4 tab catches and is removed first
- the smaller cast aluminum cover spins off.
- the fan blade nut is reverse threaded.
- after cleaning the center section, I clear-coated both sides.
- used black RTV to seal both covers.
- let it sit for 24hrs after sealing it, before installing it
It wasn't that bad of a fix...just takes a little time.
regards,
Doug
