AIR and EGR Valves on LT's
AIR and EGR Valves on LT's
i'm gonna buy some Pacesetter LT's with ORY. i already have the LM. i think i'm gonna go with the race style which don't have the AIR and EGR Valves on them. would i have to change any of the computer settings or what would i have to do? and would i need O2 simulators because it's a 94 A4 Z. or would it matter at all?
You won't need 02 simulators because you don't have a 96-97 with the dual catted ypipe and post cat 02 sensors. As for the AIR system, as long as the electrical system is left intact, it shouldn't set an SES light. As for the EGR, it is a hit or miss, it may or may not set an SES light. You will need EGR blockoff plates however, when removing that system. If you do get an SES light, you can always look into PCM tuning from PCMs4less or Madz28 and add some additional power as well.
the SES light is already on. but if i don't block the EGR valve with a plate will it affect my performance or can i just run it like that. see there is the Race style headers and there is the ones with the EGR and AIR valves for the same price. which ones should i get. i'm going tomorrow to go pick them up from Texas Speed her in Texas.
Unless you want gaping holes in the back of your intake manifold once you remove the EGR system, then yes, you definitely need the blockoff plates. No need to worry, they are fairly cheap, around twenty or so bucks. The advantage of the race style headers is that once you remove the AIR and EGR, you will clean up your engine bay quite a bit. However, if your area has emissions or will do so in the near future, it may be a good idea to get the emissions style. Having the AIR and EGR systems intact will not degrade the performance of your car whatsoever if that is what you are worried about.
i don't have the worry about emissions. so i think i'm going with the race style. i'm gonna go pick them up tommorow so i will do them this weekend. i just need somebody when i put them on to weld them to the LM. or would clamps hold as good?
You will have to pick up the Pacesetter off-road y-pipe. I would suggest using 3" band clamps to seal the y-pipe to the header collectors. As for the connection from the y-pipe to the catback, if you have a 3" catback, then I would try to secure those with a band clamp as well. The band clamps seal very well, don't distort the pipes, and allow greater ease for future disassembly. Otherwise, an exhaust shop can easily mend the catback and ypipe together.
