Air Dam!

I overheat at higher speeds, and i believe its ther air dam. I looked to see if i have the plastic piece or whatever and i have part of it but i think another part is missing. The part that scoops up the air through the radiator. The car had little front end damage when i bought the car, so it could have broken off possibly then. Does ANYBODY HAVE A PICTURE OF WHAT THE 93-97 AIR DAM is supposed to look like. I have a 93' to let ya'll know.

Thanks

Cory

You cannot miss it. Its a black plastic part the is right under the radiator. Or you can just hit a speedbump. If you hear a scraping noise, thats it .

You will definitely know if you have the air dam or not. It is at least 4 feet wide, and the ends, in front of the tires are 2 to 3" deep, and the center section sticks down about 5". It is made out of a flexible black plastic.

The entire area behind the bumper is covered with plastic, then the air dam bolts to the bottom, accross the covers with about 8 bolts. You can see it in the right side of this picture, but the plastic cover for my drivers side fender has been removed. Sorry but thats the only picture I could find among 100's that has even part of the air dam shown.

That would be a lot of trouble considering you could buy a brand new one for $20 and maybe $5 at a bone yard.

Home made

I created my own since i had a perfect piece of light aluminum laying around. I just bent it and fit it to size and drilled some holes and bolted it right up there. Took about all of 30 minutes or so. Works good. My A/C is even colder now, and my car no longer gets hot on the highway Ill take pics of how it looks shortly and ill send them to anybody that wants them through e-mail. Just let me know if u want the pics.

dude, seriously go buy a new one or even a used one you need flexable plastic mine hits ALL the time... no avoiding it... and you definatly don't want aluminum to rip off tear up and slice your tires... not to mention possibly damage something else... go get one they are like 20 bucks?
