You down at qualcomm often? I'll be down in probably 2 weeks when I get my 9 inch broken in. Been out of the loop awhile, but glad to hear the track is hooking down there.

man. too bad Carlsbad isn't open any longer....that track was fun. That was well worth the 1.5 hour trek for me.

Carlsbad was a great track maybe 100 feet of elevation. It was ghetto but in a nostalgic way. I miss that place!

Qualcomm/Racelegal is at great elevation, but it is a parking lot. Qualcomm stadium is at about 75 feet above sea level, but the track is located along the outside edge of the parking lot at the stadium.

www.racelegal.com

You can see pictures of it there. It gets good weather sometimes being at sea level, but it is nearly impossible to hook up. Even with them torching and VHTing, it is hard to hook because it isn't a dedicated track.

Our next closest and arguably best track is Barona. www.baronadrags.com is a great 8th mile track but it is up on an indian reservation in the mountains. It sits at 1675ft above sea level and is never below 2000DA with the weather there. You can hook like crazy at that track if they prep it, but the weather normally negates the gains of a better 60ft.

Hooking at Qualcomm requires lots of suspension dialing and good tires. To hook there you have to have good suspension and slicks or drag radials. Traction is usually terrible there for the unprepaired. I can't count the number of stock LS1s or bolt on LS1s that couldn't break into the 8s or were just into it.

I normally go to the Q about once a month. Recently I have been going everytime its open, but I won't be there forawhile if the motor is damaged. Good luck with your car, post up how it runs or post on www.ls1.com in the western section where a lot of locals visit.

Pulled the manifold and it was definately the oil pump drive gear. Stripped a few teeth of the gear. Now I get to decide what to do.

I just don't want to get into a snowball effect of "while it's out." I'm contemplating just flushing it out a few times so that I can go racing more before the summer. Then when I get time/money this summer I'll tear it apart.

More and more of this stuff is comin around lately it seems.

Around here in the ****hole we know as Miami they opened up an 1/8 mile track at an abandoned airstrip.

Then again.. Moroso isn't much better...

Weird how these stripped oil pump drives are popping up. I had never heard of this until recently.

Yeah, I ended up pulling my intake to powdercoat it black and to double check mine but it looks like new, which it only has 10 passes and a few miles of street use, (knocks on wood). What did you use to fix yours Javier?
