Well, it's finished. I ditched my stock short block and had a 383 built. Swapped the old motor out in 2 days and it fired literally on the first crank. Hooray! The car is a little worse for wear (has sat for 5 years) so it's a little cruddy, but in sound mechanical condition.
Engine-
Gil Davis Racing-built 383 (.030" over, 3.75" stroke), factory 4-bolt block, Clevite H-series bearings, forged crank, forged Scat 6" rods, SRP forged -5cc pistons, zero-decked block, Canton 242T oil pan, Melling 10552 oil pump, Superdamper, Advanced Induction ported 200cc Dominator head package with .028" gaskets (results in 12.4:1 static compression), custom hyd. roller cam, Cloyes double-roller, LS7 lifters, Crane Gold 1.6s, TF chromemoly pushrods/guideplates, Canton valve covers, strip ported intake manifold (powdercoated metallic green to match the car), 42# Delphi injectors, Holley 58mm throttle body, CSI electric water pump, LPP long tubes/y-pipe to a cutout, Jegs Protorque starter, stock MAF, PCMforless programming.
