ahhhh someone help me!

after camming my car i cant get the damn thing started. the motor hasent ran in 6 months.this is what im getting:

-the motor sputters like it wants to start but it wont do it
-drained old gas and put in new 93
-new delco opti( tried 3 optis in total)
-changed plugs
-tried 2 different coils
- optis definitly lined up correct
-timing chain is lined up right
- im getting fuel pressure to the rails and the old plugs were covered in gas from cranking it over
-im getting spark to the plugs

does anyone have a clue what my problem could be? im pretty much stumped at this point all i can think of is changing the icm but im running out of cash..

also the motor has no w/p, balencer, alternator but that wouldnt make it not start right? im obviously not going to run it this way, but just see if it will fire first.

honestly i have had the same problem when i purchased a new opti from jegs, and the timing was off on all 3. I finally spent the extra money and went to GM to buy the opti and it worked. Sounds like a timing issue, also check fuel pressure.

Spray some starting fluid into the intake manifold and then try to start it. If it starts keep the rpms up for a little while as you may need to just get fuel flowing properly. Thats what happened with mine after it sat for months while I was working on it. If that doesn't work I'd say timing.

EDIT: Since you have your WP and all that off, just see if it starts and then dies again. If it starts hook everything back up and spray more into the intake and then keep the RPMS up until it can idle on its own.

Did you get your rockers adjusted properly? If the valves aren't seating you won't get compression. A compression check in each cylinder will show this.

I've read a couple post where they could not start the car with those things removed and when they hooked it back up it fired up. Not sure why but its a shot if your out of ideas. If the battery is just weak enough and it is getting flooded those could cause a no or hard start. Not sure why, but my car will barely start sometimes and this is days after it ran last and ran perfectly.

hey guys thanks for the quick responses,

i did already try the starting fluid thing, no help, the old plugs were so soaked in gas im pretty sure fuel is not my problem

im gonna do a compression test, i know the rockers arent adjusted perfect, i was gonna wait till it started, but they should be close but hey it cant hurt.

i guess if i still get nothin ill throw back on the w/p and stuff

keep the suggestions comin guys

dude im telling you, for some reason a whole crapload of opti's have a completely different timing than the LT1. Don't ask me why. Do you know how to take apart the cap and rotor to check the opti? Because thats what i did on the one i ordered from jegs and i went through 3 different opti's before i finally sent them all back and bought one from gm with an MSD cap and rotor.

Its obviously getting fuel, and even with rockers misaligned etc i think you would get even a rough start. I would start going over the ignition system and DEF check the opti timing or take it off and take it to a mechanic that can check it.

mtx-

so your saying that the new optis arent put together right? i just find that weird because my (used to be)working opti, a used factory opti, and a brand new delco one all dont work so i doubt its an internal opti issue but i will look into it

new theory on no start:

now would this be possible: the crank makes 2, 360 degree revolutions to make a complete cycle, now lets say the crank was lined up 360 degrees wrong, (dots still lined up) would that cause my no start? im begining to think its that.. anyone know if what im talking about is possible? that would explain my motors symptoms,

edit- nvm im just thinking about it and it wouldnt matter, as long as the dots are lined up. dammit

If the plugs are well soaked, it can make it very hard to start. Dry out the plugs and try again. If it continues to flood, hold the throttle all the way open and crank.

Do you have access to a scan tool? Just to verify all the values are present for it to run, temp, tps, map, etc...
