Aftermarket Suspension

I am putting a 6 speed in my car which already has a 100 shot of juice and was wondering which suspension products would best help as far as forward traction is concerned? Not really concerned with cornering abilities. A link to some articles on this subject would be nice too.

Basically, you want to get rid of the stamped stock suspension pieces and replace them with reinforced boxed or tubular pieces. Lower control arms, pan hard rod, torque arm, better springs/shocks. Also, you need to tie the sub frames together with connectors to help control body flex.

Which parts help the most for straight line traction? Just don't want to replace everything.... unless I have to!

My cae was going sideways on hole shots. Put on some boxed lower control arms & that preety well solved that. But I'm adding all the rest of the good stuff as soon as the weather clears.

IMO, Eibach drag launch springs and pull your front sway bar to start with.

Well, I strated with my lower control arms. I got an awsome set from J&M Fabrications for $79 buy it now off ebay. Then I went with a set of BMR relocation brakets and an Air Lift drag bag in the right rear spring. These mods alone have netted me a 1.8 60 foot time on a new(would have been better if they were broken in) set of BFG drag radials. I am planning on a BMR or Random Tech torque arm soon and a set of Eibach drag launch springs. If you do springs I highly recommend an ajustable panhard bar to re-center your rear end under the car. With my old IROC my firend said that when I would launch the rear of the car would veer to the right after i installed my drag springs and it was affecting my 60 foot times. I bought an adjustable pan hard bar and it launched nice and streight. I actually knocked off almost .1 consisntantly on my 60 foot by adding the pan hard. All these will greatly improve your handleing and 60foot acceleration of your car. All these should be done as well as removing your front sway bar (I just remove the end links at the track and wire the bar up) and relocating your battery to the trunk helped my traction out some too in my IROC. It was pulling consistant (9-bolt killing)1.68-1.72 on Drag Radials with only a mildly modded TPI 350. I hope this has given you some ideas and info. Good luck with your ride

Jeremy
