afpr for a 93z that already has already been tuned?
afpr for a 93z that already has already been tuned?
Recently I just found out that an afpr can give our 93's a nice bit of power. So after reading just about all the posts about this subject, I don't think that I've gotten quite the answer that I've been looking for. So I was wondering if putting an afpr on my car would gain me anything eventhough I've got a tune from pcm4less. My car has been running kind of rich, but I think that it might because my intake elbow was ripped right under where it connects to the tb and kind of curled up into the way of the airflow. I'll see if that is the case as soon as my 1LE intake elbow comes in, but I have a feeling that it's just running rich anyways. So anywho, I was just wondering if I might see the 10-17rwhp increase that I've seen other people have gotten or will the tune already have done this for me?
Re: afpr for a 93z that already has already been tuned?
I always tell people that we take the fueling into consideration when building a chip. For that reason a AFPR isn't nessisary Any reason why you think your running rich? Does it have a foul smell? Have you been on the dyno?
In your situation a custom chip that we made for you would have less or equal amounts of fuel than the stock chip depending on where you are (throttle/rpm/etc)
If you can get it on the dyno we would be happy to correct the chip custom for your car. I would use the money you planned on spending on a AFPR and spend it on 3 pulls on the dyno. From there we can gauge the situation and make appropiate changes.

Re: afpr for a 93z that already has already been tuned?
Well i'm not quite sure when I'll be able to get to a dyno seeing as I'm not sure where a dyno is around me. Also I'm in college right now and my car is at home, so it's kind of hard to do.
Well I'm guessing that it's running rich at idle and other non wot times. I'm guessing that it's due to an exhaust leak, ripped intake elbow, and a small vacuum leak. I'm getting those things fixed, so I'll see how it goes after that.
So I'm guessing that I don't need the afpr then, huh. Well I've got to thank you for the quick response on here and you've been a big help. I might be going to a dyno, if I can find one, around thanksgiving time or so when I have time and I'll send you the results.

Ok, no problem.
I think thats where your money will be best spent.. If you need help finding a dyno try www.dyno-jet.com website they have a list of dyno operators.
