  • Tune the car up (basic requirement)
  • LT1 free mods (support mod)
  • Cold air intake system (bolt on)
  • Cat back exhaust (bolt on)
  • mail order tune (support mod)

Those 5 things give you the most bang for the buck and the least BS claims.

You might also want to consider used parts. Some guys sell some terrific stuff when go to the next level with their addiction. An example would be heads...you can find some good stuff in the classifieds.

I'd stay away from some used stuff. I probably wouldn't buy a rear without expecting to rebuild it...that sort of thing.

Good luck and enjoy....

Headers, cat back and cold air, if you do the headers yourself (no fun), should be able to get everything done for around 500-600 and get close to 50 hp, then get a tune

not really bolt-ons but good bang for the buck mods..

if you have an auto, a stall converter and 3.73 gears..

if you have a manual transmission, 4.11 gears.

I was looking at eBay how do you all feel about cold air intakes bought off of there I'm seeing them for 55 and under compared To a k&n cold air intake that runs you about 240.

And what are you referring to when you say lt1 free mods

there are some on ebay that extend into the scoop area, i think they call them a 3 piece intake, they are around $60..

a friend of mine has a 96 or 97 ta and hes running 8.20's in the 1/8th with one of the ebay 3 piece intakes, and a set of the ebay stainless headers, and a gear...

it might not flow as good as a k&n but for near a $200 difference i think i would take my chances... and that extra $200 savings would put you closer to a set of headers, or gears..

since we are on diffs (not really LT1 engine technically) as a fellow 95 vert owner, the front brake swap to 98+ brakes was tremendous, it is the opposite direction (stop vs go) but for any spirited driving (other than drag racing) it a good, inexspensive mod.
