Advice on new rotors, calipers & pads

I tried doing a search on some brake kits in this forum and online and I wasn't really sure if some of the information was what I'm looking for, as in what kit to get.

Basically I'm in need for a brake service! I would go with re-surfacing the rotors and get new pads but that rotor and caliper is way UGLY behind my Z06's. I'm not a mechanic guru so I have to get this done at the dealership. I was quoted $315.00 per axle. Total over $700. I'm not ganna pay for that!! So I want a aftermarket kit and I'll just have to use my chilton and DO IT MYSELF.

I have a 96 Z28 with 17" Z06 replica's. I have a lil bit over $1K to spend, maybe $2K and I was wondering if the powerslot rotors were alright to go with? If that's the choice then I want a more attractive caliper and a nice aftermarket pad.

Please give me some ideas because this is my first time at taking a stab at the brakes and I have no idea what you guys have on your cars that would look nice. Since you guys are way more experienced with this I'm coming to you for some advice/suggestions.

Thanks

PEPPER

as far as doing them man it is easy. get a large c-clamp to collapse the piston. simple hand tools ratchet etc
take wheel of
collapse the cylinder so the caliper will come off
undo the caliper bolts
pull caliper off
take rotors
make sure the piston on the calipers is all the way in or the new bads will not fit over the rotors this is done with the large c clamp or can be done with a pair of channel locks

Alright, I was talking with a buddy that's a mechanic wiz and I guess I have someone to look over my shoulder while I do it.

Now as far as a brake kit I'm looking into, I was thinking of going with the Powerslot rotors and staying with my stock Calipers.

Powerslot Rotors

I was also wondering what brake pads I should go with? The link above also shows some brake pads, PFC pads. I'm looking for a pad that won't leave alot of brake dust on my rims. A pad that's not that agressive but will show improved braking over stock. Anyhow, anyone that has done their brakes.. please shoot me somke advice/feedback.

THANKS,

Low dusting pad... try Ceramic Pads. Napa and Kragen have them.. I havent checked with Autozone yet.
