Advice and knowledge needed!
Advice and knowledge needed!
Hey guys I got a few questions
1. Can someone give me a list of everything that I need for a forged bottom end 357
2. What type of rods/pistons/crank that will hold a 300 shot?
3. Will a FLP Level4 trans hold up to that power?
4. I have a motor in my car now, it has 103,xxx miles on it, I have a gear, b&m 12" 2600 stall and a CAI and it went 13.39 @ 102.5 on a 1.87 in 1700 DA, from what Ive seen this is kinda freakish for an LT1, i want to do headers/catback/pulley and some weight reduction, skinnies and go on a nice low DA night and shoot for 12.6 range. I know I can 60' it better and I think shifting higher in first may help but thats the type of thing I will have to figure out at the track. Anyway, i feel bad pulling out this motorand dropping in a new one even though it wont be for a while, i almost feel like Im wasting a freak engine, and what if the one I put in is slow for whats its got, kinda like if it isnt broke dont fix it. Just not sure what to do, looking for some opinions.
Thanks

Actually, the only difference between a 355 and a 357 is going to a 3.5" stroke crank over the oem 3.48" stroke. Both are gonna be a .030" overbore. I don't see any problem with spraying big on that.

I you're gonna want to go with a good set of pistons (JE, etc), a good set of rods (I'm using Eagle H-beams), and a good crank. If you're looking to go 357, I would go with a Callies Dragonslayer. Good crank, not cheap but not all that expensive, and I doubt you'll get to the point you'll break it. Go with some good quality rings and bearings, and you should be set. People have different opinions on both, so talk to people and get a feel for what people recommend. Either do a 4-bolt main, or at the very least use studs on the 2-bolt mains.
