ive been looking for a project car, i found a 1994 camaro in my town for 1000, it has 178k miles on it, but it needs work and i have general questions about it to see if in the opinon of people who know much more than me think its something worth getting in to. what is a decent lifespan for an lt1 engine? should i go into this with the mindset of replacing the engine or should i just drive it until it dies? it also looks to be missing most of the intake components, and needs a new fuel pump. how hard and/or expensive are these components to find and replace? the whole interior is shot, so i would need a new interior. does this seem like its too much for someone who has limited experience with cars? i would need this car as a daily driver while im fixing it up as well so that makes the equation a bit tougher. i thank everyone in advance for your comments and advice.
I would like to, but money is a problem. I have a car loan on a damn Toyota that's motor blew and it doesn't make sense to get it rebuilt due to the cost. So I have to keep cost in mind.
there is no need to go with a ls1 for a daily driver, just find something with decent miles around 100k or a little more, the important part is to find something that was well taken care of and maintained regularly.
what is your budget? if your planning to spend 1k on something to daily drive then an f body is not going to be a good choice

Sounds like you have a basket case on your hands if you go this route. You can pick up a high mileage RUNNING LT1 camaro in your price range. Much better to start with a running car than go through what you are contemplating.
alright thanks for the advice, based on what everyone is saying i will keep looking for a better deal.
There is a 1994 camaro z28 on ebay for around two thousand right now and it only has 45000 miles on it. It will probably sell for a little bit higher but id definately look into that. I know that everyone says get an ls1 for power or daily driver but the lt1 is just as efficient and i love mine. And truth be told they can get around 25 mpg on the highway and about nineteen in town not bad for a descent sized v-8 motor. If you did go the route of getting that thousand dollare car they have plenty of lt1 engines on ebay for five hundred dollars to twelve hundred and a fuel pump new for a delphi is around 175$. You can do this depending on the equipment you have. Do you have a complete tool and socket set, a frame and engine hoist etc. These are items you will need. If you cannot come up with these your best bet would be going on ebay and buying they usually have good deals just watch out and try not to get ripped off. But that camaro i was talking about on ebay looked like a steal, well good luck man.
