advantages of true duals over the y-pipe
Good post! I have had the same question for quite some time.
One issue with most dual setups is ground clearance and noise reverb under the car. Other than that, I'm most interested in the power differences.

yes, the ground-clearence suffers...
What are the advantages... well, basically it just frees up the exhaust flow more than converging all the exhaust into a single pipe, althought most true-duals have some sort of cross-over with the x-pipe being the most common on f-bodies..(including mine)
I believe the only cat-back that will flow similar numbers is the 4" one (don't remember the name of the mfg, maybe someone else will chime in).
not to mention it HAS to be custom fabbed... I've heard of a bolt-on kit, but it was well over $600 and seeing it cost me a total of $150 to make mine.. $600 is a little crazy...
