Adjusting Values..please help

Thanks for viewing....having problem getting values to run without knocking.......last time i adjusted i tightened polylock done on my 1.6' cc rr's until pushrod moved freely and roller end of rocker and pushrod had no play or upward movement.."0 lash"..is that correct?....next after i reached that point i tightened down polylock nut a quarter turn more....then tighten allen screw down tight....and did this to the whole motor......and started it up and it was bad then it leveled off but still had a rough knocking on all of them.....i did this after the car was laid up for 5 days...could the motor have no been primer up enough....another question after i did this quater turn...some of the rockers still had side to side motion...or i could still spin the pushrod...is this all normal in adjustments....i didn't think it was....but any help would be greatly appreciated......thanks....

I'm confused, you tightened the rockers until the pushrod was loose??????

How about tightening the rocker nut until the pushrod has resistance while your spinning it in your fingers. once you feel resistance, turn the nut 1/2 turn more and lock them down.

Not sure what you are experiencing but knock should not be one of them. A valve tap is unmistakable.

If your still hearing a TAP once you do this, maybe you should consider replacing the lifters.
