AC Compressor

Awful noise from engine. I'm positive it has to be the AC compressor. One day with it on I heard this awful noise and it stopped blowing cold air. Everytime I start the car it makes this noise then goes away. Now it makes the noise almost all the time.

I have purchased a new compressor from Dal and have a couple of questions after searching for them unsuccessfully.

1. Since I have had to drive it recently with the problem I was wondering if it might harm anything else? I'm hoping it is as easy as removing old and installing new but I'm aware of Murphy's Law.

Anybody had this happen and solve it by installing a new compressor without any additional problems?

I was quoted $1200 to put in a new compressor but thought about connections here. 364.22 for the compressor from Dal.

Any ideas?

P.S. Shoebox.....If our new Governor doesn't work out will you run?

1200? Yikes!

Meineke charged me 85 to do it. took em about an hour.

the compressor was around 344 or so.

only think is, depending how long it was out, moisture might have ruined the ac drier or some o-rings.

Thanks. I'm pretty sure I can do it my self if I don't need a puller. It looks easy to get to through the bottom.

Where would the drier and expansion valve be located as opposed to the compressor? Are they also easy to change?

After the labor I will take it and get it vac'd and charged.

Thanks for the help.

well the drir is next to the battery the big silver canister the valve is where the high and low pressure lines go into the core in the dash there are 2 torx bolts holding it in there you need the system flushed before installing the new compressor take the old one ou can flush the system with alcohol and a blow nozzle
