Ac

Okay here it is, I am asking here because here everyone seems the most intelligent. My buddies 96 3.8’s air does not work. He took it in for a free inspection and they said he has Freon, he has correct pressure, but they need to do an electrical check. So we replaced the relay and checked the fuses, but he only blows hot air. They also said his compressor appeared to be fine. If so then what is it?

1. No leaks
2. Full Freon
3. No Cold Air Only blowing HOT no matter if it is on high, medium or low.

They say the AC clutch is not getting any power...

Sounds like you need a wiring diagram and a meter to see if the signals are getting to the clutch. A dk green wire feeds 12v from the relay to the clutch and there should be a black ground wire also in the plug. There is a diode wired into the harness near the plug that goes to the clutch.
If the clutch never engages, you won't get any cooling. You should be able to hear the relay click when you turn on the a/c.

One other thing you might do is reset the pcm. If the system has had any work done on it, the reset may need to be done so the pcm will allow the clutch to engage. Worth a try.
