Abs Inop

My ABS INOP came on out of the blue yesterday. What makes this go on?
How Do Fix it? It has never come on before but I did replace my spark plug wires a few days ago. Could it have somthing to do with this?

Re: Abs Inop

Could be your relay, could be a wheel sensor, could be the ABS pump. Does your ABS still work? If not does your Low Trac light some on when it should activate? I have my ABS relay out and my Low Trac light never comes on. Before i took it out i did. I have a bad ABS pump though.

Re: Abs Inop

Since it came on after your plug wire work, I would bet that you got a plug wire too close to one of the harnesses to the front wheel sensor. Some people that don't route plug wires in the stock locations think that strapping plug wires to those wire harnesses is a convenient fix. The trouble is, the high voltage field emitted by the plug wires interferes with the low level voltage that is used in the sensor circuits.

You can also check the ground lug on the RH shock tower area to be sure that it is clean and tight.

Re: Abs Inop

Yeah your 3rd brake light on the spoiler especaily. It will make the abs inop come on untill you get a new bulb.

Hhmm... that is a good idea. Mine is on and I have mine routed there. Cant remember when mine came on, but it could possibly be the cause.

Re: Abs Inop

Join the club, I have my ABS INOP, BRAKE, Low Coolant, ASR Off, and also my high beam indicator because my right headlight went out like a year ago and I am too lazy to fix it(yet have done new wires twice since), so I unplugged my other headlight and drive with my high beams only. I think I will check my wires also, I may have ziptied one to that harness...DOH!

The high beams arent any brighter than the headlights from what I can tell, and its not like I have 2 sets of lights on, the headlights are off.

Re: Abs Inop

So I asked my supervisor on my way out to check my spoiler brake light when i braked and he said it worked. The same night at a Taco Bell Parking lot I asked my girlfriend to hit the brake pedal while i checked the spoiler brake light and it never came on....PROBLEM SOLVED -THANKS -
Went to Autozone and they didnt have the keypad to check for the # for the
brake light or the book and had the worker at the computer check the # and
he gave me the light bulb and said it was it and i went to my house and removed the brake light cover and OHHH! it is the wrong bulb. I am going to pep boys for this...

Thats because they aren't. However they are at a different angle which is why it annoys people, because it blinds them because its pointed at their eyes. As aposed to the low beams which are pointed on the ground.

Ever notice how cars coming at you going over pumps lights seem to get brighter on bumps?

This is very interesting!....Maybe this is why at I have a lot of people flashing their high beams at me eventhough I am driving with my low beams...maybe
one of my low beams is out of adjustment...but they seem to point to the
ground though .....oh well
