Unhappy Abs Inop!!

ABS INOP IS ON STILL!!! Checked the sensor wires around the pass side, not even close to my plug wires, everything seems to look good. what else to check? there is no code either???

I've had the same thing with my ABS Inop light for about a year now. I can't find anything wrong with it. I took to the dealership and they couldn't find anything wrong with it either. I'd really like to know the answer to this question too. Its driving me crazy!!!

Keith,
the ABS INOP code is not set by the PCM. A different module sets it. Check for burned brake light bulbs. (the one on the spoiler too)

I had the same problem. went to the dealer, they couldn't figure it out either.

turned out to be a very simple thing -

the main chassis ground (off the battery) had corrosion on it.

i cleaned it up really good (including rmoving the paint), and voila!

the light went out.

Yep yep, that happened to me as well. It started with the ABS INOP, then a flashing/constant ON airbag light, then it got freakier..... rpm and speed needless started jumping as if they were posessed. Then the alarm would go off out of no reason and randomly. It was a nightmare.
Cleaned the grounds and everything fixed!

lmao...hell, mine did that for a while...

then, i found out that my starter and my alternator were bad...

when my starter was bad, the bat wasnt getting as much charge as it wanted, so the light was comin on...it WAS charging, but not by as much as it wanted to.

Frequently wheel speed sensors going bad are the cause of an ABS light, but definitely not the only reason why the light could come on.

anyone got pics of where the ground's are that I should check and clean? why would it just trip shortly after a header install though?

ION,
Yeah I removed that other O2 sim today (which was melted to my primary) and erased the code, drove around for about 20 miles nothing came back on yet, we'll see, I'd say it should be fine though, just gotta get this DAMN abs inop light off now

Mine came on after changing out my carrier during a gear change. Didn't know the reluctor ring was different for 2 and 3 series carriers.

ABS light

i have had this problem too. i replace the fuse in the fuse box under the hood, the light went out but it came back on like a day later! it has to be a bad ground somewhere that blows the fuse. I'd check all grounds and replace or check the fuse. I also have my Air bag light on what is up with that!!!!!!!!!!!???????????

fast_TA_95, and Hyperspeed97z28

Here's the ground I was reffering to. I doubt Hyperspeed's problem is this thing but fast_TA_95's I'm sure is.
Clean both the connector and the body side real well and see if it fixes it.

Keith,
I'd look for some disconnected wires... also check the brake lines, I've heard the headers can burn them...

Well if you don't want it to be lonely, I could always re-enable your o2 codes.
