Milling head to raise compression??

Well, the mod monster got a hold of me pretty good. I went ahead and took the heads off to have them ported, larger valves, ect. I know the heads will be getting milled but what about the block. I am all most scared to go put a straight edge on it. What are the deck tolerances on an LT1 with aluminium heads anyway?
I am going to die if the block needs milling.
Thanks
Jeff D.

If you have not over heated your engine you should not need to mill either your block or your heads. Clean them and check with a straight edge. Milling the heads often causes problems with intake and exhaust alignment. Don't do it if you don't have to.

Thxs for the reply
I heard that you should mill the intake side of the head when you have the deck milled. Anyone know what milling 0.010, 0.020, and 0.030 off the head raises the compression ratio too?
This being with a stock bottom end, LT1 heads, and Felpro gaskets.

Thanks
Jeff D.
