? About Lt1 blocks with 4 bolt mains
? About Lt1 blocks with 4 bolt mains
Besides the Corvette blocks that came with the 4 bolt mains, did any other lt1 cars come with 4 bolt mains? A guy told me that he would sell me a lt1 block out of a 93 Fleetwood and it has 4 bolt mains. Is this true or what?
Re: ? About Lt1 blocks with 4 bolt mains
Unless it was replaced with a crate motor or the vette motor it most likely does not have 4 bolt mains (unless of course it was converted).

That being said, I do have a 4-bolt main LT1 in my camaro, but it was a crate engine. My original was a 2-bolt. All iron head LT1s that I have ever seen apart are 2-bolts, period.

Definately pull the pan and look, recently I bought an LT1 out of a vette sight unseen extremely cheap and when I got it home I dissassembled it and it was a 2 bolt er ran the Vin on the block and it was a Z motor. Obviously the original motor in the vette had gone south and the owner replaced it with a Z motor.

I believe the factory kept a number of 4-bolt blocks in inventory as replacement engines. Apparently they decided to use the 4-bolts instead of keeping 2-bolts on hand. However, you would probably have to look far and wide to find any left, including 2-bolt short blocks.JMHO

93 Fleetwood got an LO5 not an LT1 don't know if it was 2 bolt or 4 but that pretty much doesn't matter anymore does it. The b and d-bodies only got the LT1/L99 94-96.
Do not get all hot and bothered over the factory 4 bolt, by the time they are genuinely a good idea you would be better off starting with a 2 bolt block and doing a splayed conversion.

In late 1996, they used a number of 4 bolt blocks when supplies of 2 bolt ones got slim. From what I understand, anything during this time period was game for one. I agree with Dwayne, a 2 bolt with splayed caps is more desireable.

Edit: Guys, gotta add this edit. Regarding what 'capricemgr' stated, what does he know? He literally 'drops' his cams in his engines.

(he wasn't involved in that part).

When I was a kid I was putting a big fancy hyd cam in my 70 Camaros 350 . I tripped walking to the car (with the cam in my hand) it hit dead center to a cynder block I had on end for a seat and it broke in half...I cried.
