? about 233/239
I'm in the process of trying to pick out a cam and after lots of research I've come down to picking out either the XE 230/236 or the 233/239 on a 111 lsa. Cmotorsports pointed the 233/239 to me but I was wondering if with a stock bottom end woud I have to rev the motor to the sky to get to the power? I'm having my stock heads ported and am not woried about streetability at all. Does anyone have any recomendations, or know much about the 233/369? Thanks
Yea the guys at cmotorsports have been very helpful. I just want to go big with this cam but want to make the best choice for my application and don't want to have to do it a second time. Thanks for your reply.
If you aren't worried about the street manners of the car then I think that the 233/239 cam will put down some good numbers. I just placed my cam order with combo motorsports last Friday and I went with the 227/233 cam because I wanted to continue street driving my car a good portion of the time. Combo told me that the 227/233 wanted to rev to 6500 so I would imagine that the 233/239 would be higher than that.
cmotorsports also mentioned the 227/233 which sounded good to me. The only thing that I don't like about the bigger 233/239 is like you said it will want to rev higher. I still have the stock bottom end and also I am wondering if the new opti that I'm going to put on with the cam will handle the RPM's of the 233/239??

While its true that the longer duration doesn't mean a higher peak rpm the 233/239 cam also has a lift of 569/577 which is a decent lift. I would think that this cam and the 227/233 would be very similar except that the 233/239 would need to rev a little higher. I may be way off on my assumptions about these cams since I only know for sure about the 227/233. I spoke at length with Combo about it and was told that the cam pulled very well and wanted to be taken up to 6500. I was also told that in two similar cars with the only big difference being the cams(one with the 227/233 and the other with the 230/236) that the 227/233 pulled the 230/236 cam, but like I said this is just what I was told on the phone. I don't think you can go wrong with any of these cams. They should all make good power. Just call Combo and talk with them. I was having a hard time deciding between the 227/233 and the 230/236 and after talking with them and explaining what my goals for my car were I went with the 227/233. Its really all up to you in the end.
I've been researching and talking with cmotorsports and think that I've narrowed it down to either the 227/233 or the 230/236 both probably on a 111 lsa. I just think that the extra 15 HP or so at the flywheel isn't worth the extra stress on the bottom end.
