A4 vs M6

Whats going on everybody? I gotta 1994 Camaro Z28 A4.. Now do u think I made the wrong choice by going with an automatic?? Would nebody say that a Manual camaro would be better? All inputs ! Thanks!

o yea, Theres this guy behind me. He has a 96' Camaro M6 all black T-TOPS with about 60-90k miles on it (somewhere in that range!?) and hes letting it go for about 2,800 barely ran the car. Only problem he said thats wrong with it is that when hes driving and he comes to a stop, the car turns off. and i heard that , thats probally a problem with the computer chip in the engine and it cost around 1,000-1,500 dollars to fix. but if hes selling it for 2,800 then it could be fixed? so what do u guys think? think i should sell my 94? and get that 1?

mines is all black Polo Green (HARD TOP) A4 with about 116K miles on it. No rebuild, Runs nice though and sounds very mean. What do u guys think? Should i keep it? (I havnt heard a camaro dat sounds good as mines yet on these L.A. Streets, But i doubt if its the fastest being its an auto right? ((Feels fast)) )

Your A4 isnt much slower then the M6, you will only be beat by an M6 if the driver is good, an Automatic shifts faster and is more consistent. I doubt the stalling problem from a stop is a computer related issue, sounds like a vacum leak..or some kind of easy fix. I would definetly pick that car up! Or at leaste take it to a mechanic and see what he says for like 80 bucks.

the 10 hp is just because of 2 cats, get a high flow cat on a 93-96 and you an get 10 hp too easy.

Re: A4 vs M6

Gearing has alot to do with times in the quarter mile. Though to be honest i would think the manual should be alot better than that as it has 3.42's in the rear end and an auto has 3.23's. Maybe it was driver error in that manual? But seriously, if you don't buy that guys car for 2800 then give me his number and I will!!!

Re: A4 vs M6

Do you actually like your car???!!! Why are you even asking this? If you like your Z and don't mind the automatic, then keep it and don't worry about it! But if you really wanted a manual all along, why did you ever buy this one??

And no, I would not even think about messing around with that other one if it's having serious problems (could turn into an instant money pit in a hurry which will leave you regretting it all fast). Honestly, if your car runs as good as you say it does, just keep what you have and enjoy it (IF you still like the A4). If you're never going to be happy with it, then just sell it and go out and find an M6 that doesn't have any problems...

BTW, there is very little difference between the A4 & M6 like Robvas said...A4's usually ET a little better because of the consistency (less driver error) factory while M6's trap a little higher due to putting more power to the ground through the manual trans...This is STOCK vs STOCK...Once you start modifying though, it changes everything...

Mike

P.S. Rebuild that trans, put a cooler in it, and go with a nice Vig 2800 stall to really wake up that A4.

but remember that a bent valve will also cause a vacume leak and that`s not a cheap fix
it could be anything wrong with that thing.
like you said take it to a mechanic and get it looked at first

and b.t.w. i love my 94a4 and i havn`t lost a race yet, not even to my friends 2000 vette it`s a LS1 automatic convertable

If you really want an M6 and you can't find any nice ones in your area you can always convert it over. Soo many people have done the swap and from what I read it isn't tooo expensive ($1500-2000) and the job can be done in a weekend. Then just have the PCM flashed (Madwolf ). I don't I'd ever buy a hardtop FBody, but that's me. Have fun

no, i also have all the free mods aswell. remember it was a convertable vette there kinda heavy from the get go.

it helps that my car hooks and i can drive it, my friend spun a little and cant race all that well.

on a side note my friend has a 2002 camaro z28 m6 and he runs 13:201/4 all day long. my car runs 13:40 all day long. the difference is not even noticable on the street, he wins some and i win some
