Arrow A4 removal and reinstall time?

I'm wondering how long does it usually take to remove the tranny, change the converter and reinstall?
I did this once already a couple of weeks ago with the engine out and it was a piece of cake, but it looks like it will be a bit of a PITA with the engine in.

I don't have any air tools or lift, just floor jacks, jackstands and ramps.

Thanks.

I did it in my garage without air tools or a lift or a special tranny jack, I used my regular floor jack as my tranny jack.
It was not bad at all, time consuming but not hard. My LT header install was worse than the tranny R&R.

I can do them in 1-1.5 hours total as long as they don't have any weird exhaust or longtubes..I am a performance Mechanic by trade though, and have done alot of tranny swaps.Lift and air tools make it simple.

It took someone 17 hours??? A day or two?? Damn man, did they rebuild it to?
Takes me from two to three hours on my back with the car on stands, no air tools.....unless the trans falls off the jack, then I have to fight with it for an hour to get the damn thing back on.

Took my A4 out last friday night in about 3 hours... by myself with no air tools or lift. It's not bad at all... just make sure you have at least 2 concrete blocks under each front wheel so that the auto will clear the k-member while on the jack. At least 3 ft of extensions and swivel joints will help tremendously. And draining some of the fluid from the trans will help too (I didn't and ended up making a mess after pulling the dipstick tube out).

Hey guys,
I took out the driveshaft and did all the other stuff besides unbolting the converter and bellhousing bolts. (didn't have time) The converter bolts are no problem, but how do I get to the bellhousing bolts? I must say they look pretty intimidating.

Do I lower the jack supporting the tranny and the tranny will just go down a little and make room for working on the bolts?
I remember when I installed the engine through the bottom a couple of weeks ago, the tranny was pretty flexible, but I'm not sure how it will be now that the cradle bolts are tight.
Thanks.

Yes, you are going to want to lower the back of the trans.
I unbolted the trans crossmember first. After that I loosened the k-member bolts toward the front of the car, and took out the ones in the rear. (be careful to not loosen the front ones all the way). I only did that because i could not get anything on the middle bellhousing bolts. After that, use a really long extension to get to the top bellhousing bolts. SHould be a cakewalk.
