A4...that's the slang or shorthand term for the Automatic transmission in 4th Generation F-bodies. The long term is 4L60E...so, A4 is easier to type.
THe brother to the A4 is the M6...which is the Manual 6 speed (borg Warner T56) transmission in 4th Generation F-bodies.

In 1993 they redesignated what was basically the 700R4 transmission to 4L60. When they added the electronic computer control to it in 1994, they called it the 4L60E.
