A4 + 4.10 = crazy
I had a 4.10 rear laying around in my garage which was meant for a 6 speed car but never got installed, so I decided to put it in my A4.
I drove with 3.73s before in an A4, but the 4.10s are plain scary.
My car already (had 3.23s) didn't have any traction on the street in 1st up to the rev limiter (6800) but with these 4.10s anything more than half throttle and the car goes sideways.
Time for some drag radials I guess.
Just thought I'd share my today's experience.

I'm running 275/40/17 tires on mine. Haven't had a chance to try the highway yet since I just finished swapping the rear a couple of hours ago. I would imagine it will be around 3500 or so for 75-80 MPH, but I'll let you know as soon as I get a chance to test it. Mine is also a 700R4.
Re: A4 + 4.10 = crazy
Yeah, I like the 4.10's w/A4 too
. They're a little crazy on the highway.....~2800 rpm to do ~75 mph, but oh well!
www.f-body.org/gears <-- do all the calculating you want
.
Tires will make a big difference you know.....I've been cutting real good 60' times this year (1.9's) even on street tires, compared to 2.1 - 2.2 last year with 2.73's and 3.73's with my old tires

Re: A4 + 4.10 = crazy
4.10's are a lot of fun in an auto. Might not be the best gear tho if your running nitrous. But in madwolfs case with a 6800 shift point (with no nitrous) it might be the way to go, if you can find some traction.
Turning the car with the throttle can be alot of fun. Case in point, waiting to turn left after oncoming traffic stops. I can't make the turn untill all the cars are done running the yellow. Light turns red. I already have the wheel cut to the left. Blip the throttle and the car turns 90 degrees, blip the gas again, and I'm through the intersection. Took about 3 seconds.
As I said 4.10's are fun.

Re: A4 + 4.10 = crazy
I tried 4.10's with my A4, and at the track, with 255 BFG drag radials, my 60' times were worse than with the stock 3,23's. You're definitely going to need ET streets.
I was shifting at 6K, with a mild cam, 215/224/112. My convertor is about 2300.
