Ok I decided to make a new thread. My z28 is still shutting down after replacing parts. My car would drive well from a cold start but once the engine got warm it would shut down. I replaced the ICM and the problem was still accuring. I had codes ran on it and it said that the Crank Sensor was faulty so i replaced the sensor today and after driving it, it still shut down on me after 15min or so of driving. I had codes ran on yesterday and these are the codes that came up...
p0372(crank sensor)
p0371 (crank sensor)
p0300 (cylinder misfire random cylinders)

these are the codes that showed before i changed the crank sensor. since the car shut down again i'm afraid to drive it back to autozone so i was wondering what else could be causing this shutdown. I called autozone and the guy told me that it MIGHT be the distributor but he wasn't sure. I just want to know whats going on before i shell out any more money buying parts that aren't fixing the problem...thanks in advance

 

P0371 is not a valid code. Your crank sensor was probably fine, but P0372 is the for the high resolution signals from the opti. That is likely where you are headed. You should check out the opti harness for tightness and any corrosion before going further.

 

Starting a new thread only confuses people more and in the end helps you less. You should keep all of your issues, tests, symptoms, etc., in one thread.

 

sorry...the only reason i did it was because it had been a while since i posted in the last thread and i didn't know if anyone was still following that thread..

 

ok well i decided to go and take off my opti and see how it looks, i've taken the bolts off of the waterpump but i can't seem to get to that last bolt on the far left side of the pump...any ideas on how to get it off???

 

I used a 14mm socket with a universal on a short extension (all 1/4" drive). I put some masking tape around the universal to minimize the flopping. Make sure you install that bolt in the water pump prior to remounting the pump.

ok i finally changed the opti and it seems to be working fine...drove car to work and back and it didn't shut down on me..thanks for your help..
