97 Z28 temperature issues

I apologize if I posted this question in the wrong area. I am new. I just had the water pump and thermostat replaced on my 97 Z28. My question is how hot does the engine normally run? Is it normal for it to run hotter when idling at at a red light then when drinving? Like I said I am new so any help in this area would be appreciated because it seems as if my Z is still running hot. Thanks

Yes, it's normal for the LT1 to get hotter when stopped or in slow moving traffic. The temp gauge will probably get close to the third hash mark when sitting still, then the fans should come on. On the interstate the temp should be to the left of the half way mark. If the shop didn't bleed the air, the car could get hotter.
