97 transmission in a 94 car

I know the 93 transmission weren't electronic, but wasn't something different in 94 too, that seperated them from 95+. I found a great deal on a rebuilt transmission out of a 97 TA, but I swore you could only swap in transmission from other 94s because of something. What is the difference or am I crazy?

If there is a difference can I get around it?

Well, it took an hour of searching but I found the difference.

"To be on the same side...I know that you can swap your '94 valvebody and wiring harness onto the '95 transmission and it would work just fine in your '94 car. I'm not sure what would happen if you simply installed the '95 model trans "as is" into your car. I'm thinking that you'll have to tie the two TCC solenoid ground wires together ie. pin "U" to pin "T" on the main transmission harness connector in order to have a functional lockup, but if it worked for Big Evil, it may work for you as well. Like I said, worst case, you can always swap valvebodys and wiring harnesses."

Quoted from an old thread. Can anyone tell me if I throw a 97 tranny in my car will there be problems. Or how I swap the valvebody and wiring harness?

i installed a 95 tranny in my 94. I beleive the 95-97 are the same. The difference is with the torque converter lockup. The 95+ has the pwm. All i had to do was run one wire from the tranny up to the pcm which bryan at pcmforless.com told me what pins, gave me the pin to put into the connector. you can email bryan at pcmforless and just make sure its the same but i think it is.

I did it as is, like the old post says.
No changes, everything still works like new.

Same here. Put a fully built 1996 4L60-E tranny in with a custom 2500 stall convertor into my 1994 Trans Am. The only thing we had to do was splice one of his connectors into my wiring harness and vice versa, splice one of my connectors into his wiring harness. No problems to this day and she still shifts hard as hell.

Good luck
