On a 97 cluster I bought for my 93, the tack doesnt work and odometer wont lite up. The tack goes to 1500 and then drops down to 500 and flutters.

 

That's because of a module you have in your 93 harness. It's a small black box near the coil. You need to take it out for it to work correctly, or you need to swap the 93 tach internals over to the 97, but I don't think that will work being that the cluster has a different design. It does work on 94-96 though.
