97 lt1 z28 with turbo 400 tranny? Motor help

Im new to this building.the car already has 4.10 gears. I wanna b somewhere around 550 to 650hp. Ive been told that if i go with a 6.0 shortblock i wouldnt go wrong with some bolt-ons. I wana drive it on the street too. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I think he posted it on LS1 Tech because he wants to use an LSx 6.0 truck motor.

You're likely going to need FI or spray to hit those goals (assuming rwhp) unless you want to build the 6.0 into a stroker with good components. Even then you're looking at a rather costly swap between swapping everything over to an LS1 drive train and actually building the motor.

Yes Fred u hit it right on the head. Many people I've talked to told me to go with the LQ9 out of a escalade. I really didnt want dont want to deal with fuel injected. I seen where Jegs makes a conversion kit to convert to carb. Its going to b a drag car so any suggestions.

Suggestion: Use something that's not an LT1. Not knocking it (I have a few myself) but older SBCs have a much broader selection of parts and better aftermarket support. LSx motors are turning out the same. Also, you don't have to run EFI with either though they do tend to drive better on the street if you do.

yeah i was thinking about going with a 400 block...or lsx 6.0 block its just so many options. Like u say the older blocks have better selections on aftermarket parts. I know its all going to hit the pockets so its not a problem there. The biggest one is deciding which way I wanna go.
