97 LT1 Cam dowel pin length question?

I am putting my motor together, and i have question about the cam dowel pin length. The old motor is still in the car, (with the opti), so i have no way of measuring the length. I want to assemble this long block, so i can put it in the car, and i dont want to have to rip it apart, to change the cam dowel pin. The car is a 97 LT1 Formula, the cam is a CC LE2 from Lloyd, with the timing gear on, i have 3/8th of an inch of pin sticking out. Is this enough?

Different timing gears can have different thicknesses. The length should be measured from the face of the cam and be ~ .620" - .685".

Thank Shoebox, I guess it would be prudent for me to wait until i remove the other motor, grab the opti, and measure it with some clay. I was so amped about getting this motor done, but waiting and checking is the smart thing to do.
