'97 Camaro SS SLP Hood

About 3 months ago my hood was stolen from my 1997 SLP Camaro SS. Supposedly only SLP can sell me this hood, and they want over $800 for it shipped. Does anyone have any ideas for an aftermarket fiberglass hood with a functional hood scoop (since I have the SLP airbox)? All ideas are welcome, as without this hood it makes it difficult for me to drive around . Hopefully someone has replaced their SS hood and is happy with the results they got from the replacement.

Thanks

I just got the American Sports Design hood on my car painted and I looks awesome. The hood fit perfectly and is great quality. I paid about $700 from www.ls1speed.com I would recomend it to anyone over the suncoast hoods. Larry over at Speed Inc. told me that the quality of the American Sports Design hood is much better than the Suncoast Creations one.

If I had an LT4 SS, I would definetely go with an original SLP hood. Especially since the suncoast one will be around $600-$700 shipped anyway.

My $0.02

The problem with getting the stock hood is it's on backorder till March, and I simply can't wait that long. So I am looking into an aftermarket hood.

If really an LT4 SS, I wouldn't even think of a non-stock hood, no matter how long it takes or the cost. Your car is just too rare to put aftermarket fiberglass hoods on.

My opinion. But we know what opinions are like...

I second that. If you have a LT4 SS, it is worth a lot more than a "regular" SS and I would wait and spend the extra money. Try to keep it all origional.

You could always buy a color matched stock z28 hood to put on your car while you wait out the backorder till march. When the hood comes in you could sell the stocker easily for what you paid for it. I would not put an aftermarket hook on an original LT4 SS car.

They stole my T-Tops first, by popping out the passenger window, and from there popped the hood and stole that. You have to love the stock GM alarm system.
