96 Z28 vs. 99 Mustang GT

i was just wondering technically who would win in a race... a 1996 camaro z28 6speed or a 1999 Mustang GT automatic.. both are completely stock, im not the best driver but i hung w/ a infiniti g35, almost burned him but i coudlnt hit 3rd... if i hit everything rite would i beat him... i wanted to bet but i just wanted to see who should win first... if i wont win, wut will i need to beat him, thank you

if you cant beat him and he has an auto you need to sell your car, by an auto, and race him again.

The Z would win no question to it, if you lost to a mustang w/ a six speed have someone show you how to drive one.

I have always heard the Ford AOD(E) Transmissions are Junk.... But how much of a difference is there in 1/4 miles time between a Well driven 5 speed and AOD(E)? Assuming all things are equal besides transmissions

Learn how to drive the stick and also what RPM you need to take off in to get traction and everything else should be fine. You should be able to take him with no worries.

A bonestock auto 01 GT goes 14.4s....a friend of mine has one, and he's a good driver. Your 6 speed should be faster than that, you've got the gearing and more lowend....shouldn't be much of a contest. Get used to the stick and go run off 2 or 3 cars on him

Re: 96 Z28 vs. 99 Mustang GT

Yeah they are not using the AOD(e) anymore I dont think. The ford autos have been closing in on their manual counterparts now. I would say an auto is capable of 14.3 in perfect conditions. I see plenty of older LT1s now struggling to get those numbers anymore. It could be really close. Just have fun with it..win or lose.

If your having problems with shifting..get a lot of practice.. otherwise... your probably going to lose.

If the Mustang was a five speed it would be a close race. However, the automatics really slow those cars down.

Lt1's are a tad faster then the 99 up 5spd gts stock for stock, seeing thats an auto you'll crush him
