96+ coil info needed for swap
96+ coil info needed for swap
I want to do a LTCC, but for now I think I am going to swap out my old coil for the 96+ coil. I searched and could not find the swap wiring info. HELP!
I did find this info on the coils (experts can help say if it will help the engine, mods in sig)
Performance Specifications Delphi (GM) coils
.................................. .Standard..................Fast Charge
....................................Sing le Coil............... Time Single Coil
Energy (800 V zener)............62 mJ.................... 70 mJ
Peak secondary current ........45 mA................... 74 mA
Secondary voltage available...32 kV.................... 32 kV
Spark duration (800 V zener)...3.1 ms .................2.6 ms
Secondary resistance.............8.3 k ohms........... 5.8 k ohms
Primary resistance.................0.40 ohm............. 0.20 ohm
Primary charge time...............2.0 ms................ 2.0 ms
The Standard Single Coil is the '92 - '95 LT1 coil, the Fast Charge Time Single Coil is the '96 LT1/LT4 coil.

Re: 96+ coil info needed for swap
Comparing these two schematics will show you just what you need to do:

You will need the single connector pigtail for a newer coil and have to splice in the power to get it to terminal A of the ICM.
Might help a smidge, but I doubt it will be anything you notice.
