96 coil conversion
Re: 96 coil conversion
96 and up coils are supposed to be better.
But upgrading a pre-96 car to a 96 coil is pretty pointless, just buy an aftermarket coil they are better then the 96+ coil anyway.
I have a 96 and I have a accell supercoil in mine.

Re: 96 coil conversion
I'm not sure about the F-Body, but the Corvette '96 coil and ignition module should be used together as a set. This is definitely an upgraded ignition system for the Corvette.
They were designed with the extended rpm of the LT4 engine in mind. In '96, the Corvette LT1 and LT4 used the same upgraded ignition coil and module.
I converted my '92 Corvette to the '96 ignition coil and module.
The only difference in connectors is the one for the coil -- plus the coil high-voltage wire connection is different.

Re: 96 coil conversion
I've been running a Crane PS-91 coil with a Crane ignition system in my 10# supercharged setup for 30K miles with no ignition issues. It's even up to the task of a 75 shot of nitrous now and then
. I'm running Autolite 103 plugs gapped at .038" and Accel 9000 wires.
