'96 Catalytic Converters
'96 Catalytic Converters
Does anyone know of a place that offers Stock replacement (Performance) Catalytic Converters for the the dual converter set up.. I dont want to replace my Headers, but I might have to if no one makes a performace Cat for it.
Re: '96 Catalytic Converters
I wish I could go to just a straight pipe, but I have to pass Emissions.. Hmm that gives me an idea though, does anyone make a straight pipe that would bolt up to this setup? Its alittle odd on the drivers side because of the coffee can converter and how it bolts up to the header..
Re: '96 Catalytic Converters
When I had that set up I just emptied out the coffee can and the cut out the other converter and welded in a peice of straight pipe. But now i have hooker long tubes no emissions testing in Michigan. How many years old does it have to be before its exempt from testing. When we had it ,it was 10 years.
Re: '96 Catalytic Converters
Random Technology makes a performance Y-pipe with cats for the 96-97 dual cat cars. They are on sale at Tbyrne for $509. Not sure which headers you are running but this is made to bolt up to the stock manifolds.
Also Cheapexhaust.com has a stock relacement but it is not a high performance system.

Re: '96 Catalytic Converters
If you are seriously considering spending $500 on the Random setup
you should consider a true dual setup. You can even use the larger
cross section carsound cats which flow better than those mini-cats.
See the pics in my sig for more.

Re: '96 Catalytic Converters
Yeah, I like this much better, How much do you think it cost to have it done? I would definatly prefer true duals however I assumed it would be alot more.

on the shop. I would think $700 will get it done. Get an estimate from a
shop that does lots of performance exhaust work.
