96-97 slp shorty headers or 96-97 pacesetter shorty headers

Hey guys just need opinions. Which would be better? The 96-97 slp shorties with 1 3/4 primaries or pacesetter shorties with 1 5/8 primaries. This is a dual cat set up.Need smog legal headers since I'm here in wonderful California. Thanks in advance...

Is the engine stock, or modified? If modified, what's been done?

With that head, even straight out of the box (~260cfm), I would recommend the 1-3/4" primaries. I had some JBA 1-5/8" shorties on a basically stock (bolt-on) LT1 and they really seemed to choke the engine at high RPM.

The CARB-EO requirement is not header friendly on the dual-cat engines, so the larger diameter would also seem to provide an improvement on that basis also.

shorty headers, some, are CARB legal so for Calif....that means a header that does not relocate the stock CAT position

there are some "shorty" headers that do that BUT don't have a CARB certification because the MFG does not spend the high $ to get them that certification

Longer headers require moving the CATS back...which won't fly on smog.

OP

whatever header you get, have them ceramic coated. I have used Jet Hot on multiple cars/headers
